Proxi was great! I highly recommend it for a (near) downtown option close to theaters, train stations, and the financial district. I came here to catchup with an ex and had a lovely time which speaks to the restaurant's ability to create a calm, comfortable, and enjoyable experience. The restaurant is exceptionally well designed, spacious, and relatively quiet. The staff were all very professional, attentive, and knowledgeable on the menu. We tried six food items in total: the paneer, scallops, bass, chicken, wagyu beef cheeks, and yuzu pie. The paneer and seafood options were my favorites. I probably wouldn't order the beef again. Overall, for price, location, ambience and food Proxi is a great and highly recommended spot.

Maybe I've been living under a rock, but I have no idea how I hadn't heard of Proxi before! We booked the chef's counter for their special Thai cuisine tasting menu, and it was absolutely amazing. Every dish was packed with flavor--delicious, balanced, and somehow both indulgent and fresh at the same time. Some standout dishes for us were the tamarind soup, Thai sausage, and the perfectly cooked sea bass. The dessert was unique, especially the frozen yuzu pie--not quite my taste, but definitely interesting. The drinks were just as impressive, though I can't remember the names. That said, I don't think you could go wrong with any choice. I love that their menu constantly evolves. Even though we had the chef's special menu, we saw dishes from the regular menu coming out of the kitchen, and they looked just as tempting. We're already planning to return to try more! The ambiance was cozy yet sophisticated--perfect for a date night, a work dinner, or a relaxed yet refined evening out. Overall, this was some of the best food I've had in Chicago, and it left me already looking forward to my next visit

came in for restaurant week! very nice and quiet ambiance and cozy lighting. the service is very attentive with the constant water filling and changing of dishware as it's meant to be family like style favorites were the murder point oysters, smoked mushrooms, roasted king salmon, and brown sugar pavlova! some downers was the saltiness of the thai sour sausage and pork belly sauce, and the slightly stale baguette with the mussels. my partner also got cut by a mussel shell unfortunately, but staff kindly gave us a alcohol pad and bandaid! overall a fun experience for a tasting menu to try many pretty things and left full. i was just slightly underwhelmed in expecting more of a wow factor

This place BLEW me away!! Unlike some other RW, I felt like I actually had time to breathe and enjoy my meal. Our server was absolutely delightful and so upbeat. The inside is very modern and classy. Course I: Fennel apple chaat had the most delicious chutney sauce and Indian spices. So refreshing and loved the variety of textures. My first time trying oysters, so fresh like sashimi! Smoked pumpkin hummus had a nice tangy pomegranate molasses (tasted like balsamic vinegar) drizzled on top. A nice pop of flavor! Course II: Coal roasted mussels - Not much flavor, even with the kimchi. Bread was a bit stale. Thai sour sausage packed a kick and came with a very refreshing cucumber salad. Smoked mushrooms had thick grits on the bottom and a nice variety of mushrooms. Course III: Slagel Farms Pork belly - didn't love the sticky rice, but the pork MELTS in your mouth. So delicious. Roasted king salmon - the MOST juicy, tender, melting salmon I've ever had. Sauce was an addicting korma curry. We scraped every last bite. Desserts were a cafe de olla opera cake and the brown sugar pavlova. The pear sorbet was an absolute hit!

Came here for restaurant week and I'm blown away! Ambiance - intimate, dim lighting, great for dates and small groups Service - servers were super nice, manager even came to check on us to make sure food/everything was good Food - honestly there wasn't a single bad dish, the flavors paired so well together, the slagel farms pork belly was so tender/flavorful, my favorite was the smoked pumpkin hummus Can't wait to be back!

Great place for a group or date night, especially if you're trying to catch a show at the theater. Everything at Proxi was delicious and service was impeccable. This theatre menu was perfect as we all got to sample various dishes together. My niece and cousin had certain allergies and I truly appreciated the staff and chef taking the time to accommodate our dietary restrictions. There were no leftovers at this table! I need to come back here to try the other dishes. Bravo, Proxi!

We ate here for a Saturday dinner, and had reserved a table via OpenTable. We picked this restaurant due to its location in the West Loop and its proximity to Chicago OTC station. The inside has a very cool vibe and the staff were excellent. It's definitely a pricey dinner, with a small plates style. Expect to get about 2 dishes per person for the table to share. We ordered from the a la carte menu although they do have a multi course option. The flow of the food coming out was a bit strange, with the seafood and vegetable dishes coming out first before the meat dishes. It seemed like there was 15-20 minutes between each round. Usually only two dishes came out at a time, but the staff did change out our small plates and silverware each time. Our water were constantly being filled without us asking. The food itself tasted great, but smaller portions especially for some seafood dishes. Though we had an issue with one of the pork dishes coming out to us raw when we cut closer to the bone - we didn't risk eating the meat at all, but the restaurant did give us a new pork dish that was perfectly cooked (and that we didn't have to pay for). Including drinks and dessert, we paid about $100 per person after taxes and before tip. I also appreciated a dessert they offered me that wasn't on the menu due to my allergy restrictions. They do include a 3% employee benefit fee to the total.

FLAVOR (5/5): This was my favorite dinner we had in our Chicago trip! Everything we ordered did not disappoint! Our stand out was definitely the octopus, very tender and encased in a flavor bomb. The steak was also incredibly juicy and melted right in our mouths. The pandan cookies and cream ice cream is also worth a try as I was really surprised when I tasted it, it's not artificial pandan, it's the real deal! INSTAGRAM WORTHY (5/5): Tapas style so everything is smaller in size but plated very intentionally. Even the restaurant layout is a bit darker and more sexy vibes. SERVICE (3.5/5): Does the food take a while to come out in between? Yes. Is this also the type of restaurant where you're supposed to savor your food and enjoy the company you're with? Also yes. They come fill up your water for you, I wish a bit more often than they did. They also change your plates for you in between courses. TAKEAWAYS: Probably the most expensive dinner we had on our trip but worth every penny to try it! Celebrity chef did not disappoint.
